Digital X-ray

Correct diagnosis often requires an X-ray. X-radiation is what we have to think about first. In comparison with the conventional X-ray examination methods (using films), the digital technologies significantly reduce an X-radiation dose. To obtain a digital X-ray, only 1/10 part of the conventional X-radiation dosage is required, and radiation is reduced by 90 percent. It is also an environmentally-friendly technology since film development no longer requires chemicals, which are emitted into the environment. Instead of an X-ray film, an especially sensitive sensor is used. By means of digital technology and software, X-rays are converted into an image. An X-ray is displayed on the monitor. The image is larger than an entry and is more visible to both the doctor and the patient.

Panoramic X-ray

A panoramic X-ray gives a broad overview of the entire mouth. This X-ray supplies information about the teeth, upper and lower jawbone, sinuses, and other hard and soft tissues of the head and neck. One advantage of the panoramic X-ray is its ease of use. Unlike other X-rays where the film is placed inside the patient’s mouth, the panoramic film is contained in a machine that moves around the patient's head. Panoramic x-ray has much less radiation than a traditional one. Typically, a panoramic x-ray should be taken every three years and having a series of them on the same patient can assist the dentist in later determining whether changes seen in the panoramic x-ray are normal or not.
